Rooted in New England, Dedicated to History

Central New England Relic Hunters Inc. was founded by a small group of passionate detectorists dedicated to historical preservation efforts. They believe that every artifact recovered responsibly contributes to the relic hunting community, ensuring that pieces of history are saved for everyone.

How We Got Started

CNERH was born out of a shared love for the land and the stories buried beneath it. A handful of local hobbyists, tired of detecting alone, came together in 2026 to form a metal detecting club that would merge their passion for metal detecting with a genuine commitment to historical preservation efforts.

What began as weekend hunts on old New England farmland quickly evolved into a thriving relic hunting community — a gathering of like-minded individuals united by curiosity, respect for the past, and a desire to document and share their findings.

Today, CNERH is an incorporated nonprofit organization operating across Central New England, collaborating with landowners, historians, and local communities to uncover and preserve the region's rich colonial and pre-colonial heritage.

Core Values

The principles that guide every hunt, every find, and every partnership we make in our metal detecting club.

Ethical Detecting

We adhere to a strict code of conduct: always obtain permission, fill every hole, leave no trace, and report significant finds to the appropriate authorities as part of our commitment to historical preservation efforts.

Historical Stewardship

Every artifact we recover is documented and treated with respect, reflecting our belief that these objects belong to history first and to collectors second, emphasizing their role in our historical preservation efforts.

Community Partnership

We collaborate closely with landowners, local historians, and preservation societies to ensure our finds benefit the wider community, fostering a strong relic hunting community.

Education & Outreach

We actively share our knowledge and finds with schools, museums, and the public, inspiring a deeper appreciation for local heritage and promoting historical preservation efforts.

Camaraderie

Our metal detecting club is a welcoming space for detectorists of all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned relic hunter or just starting out, there's a place for you in our vibrant relic hunting community.

Leave No Trace

We take pride in leaving every site better than we found it—properly backfilled, undisturbed, and ready for the next generation to enjoy, reinforcing our commitment to historical preservation efforts.
